Clovelly - Day trip from Ilfracombe Devon. A 30 minute drive southwest of Ilfracombe is the lovely preserved Village of Clovelly. The village is owned by one family and there is a small entry fee (which covers parking), but it is worth the money. The very steep "High Street" is still cobbled so wear sensible shoes. Time really has stood still here, right down to the 14th century quay, and donkeys with sledges are still used today to move goods up and down the steep paths.
